We must lean in with each other in order to discover healing. During this event we will explore the ways in which our stories from summer mix with scientific knowledge, relevant data, and lessons learned. We will spend time braiding what we have known with where we are going. Join us as we step into the uncomfortable nature of healing across all communities of practice.

The Tension of Care
October 18, 2024

More than Camp: The Tension of Care
Presenters: Laura Blaisdell, MD & John Hamilton, MA
Description: Over the last few summers we have continued to hear stories of participants, summer staff, and even leaders who have felt anxiety creep into our work on a daily basis. ACH’s evidence has shown an increase in nerves across every level of summer programs as programming continues and care is provided. In this session, Laura and John will look at how we can work across varying specialties, different communities of practice, and areas of expertise, to harness the value we find amid the tension.
4:15 - 5:15 eastern
Title: The Tension of Care- Discussion
Facilitators: Shawn Ness LCSW, Emo Castle RN, Mary Boyd, Beigette Gill
Description: Tension can be an essential motivator for change and success. Our focus in fostering communication and coordination across professional practices will be helpful in changing the provision of care. During this time, participants will process with and learn alongside peers as we discuss the value we can discover in the tension.
October 19, 2024
12:15pm - 1:15 pm
Title: Crossing the Threshold of Care
Panel Presenters: Alicia Skovera, Drew Fidler, Jamie Cosson
Moderator: Shawna Rosenzweig
Description: If our desire is to improve the quality of care, we must be aware of the needs, motivations, and perspectives of camp participants. We know that new approaches to care can conflict with established practices. Introducing new care providers with different ideas can threaten the comfort and standardization of services. This session will highlight considerations for how camps may strive to Cross a Threshold of Care and build an environment of trust and well-being.
